Over het IPOR

Het IPOR-bestuur is verantwoordelijk voor het scheppen van de voorwaarden voor het werk van de vijf rabbijnen die werkzaam zijn binnen het IPOR-gebied. Elke rabbijn heeft een eigen regio. De hoofdrabbijn is de teammanager van het IPOR-rabbinaat en fungeert tevens als contactpersoon tussen het IPOR-bestuur en het IPOR-rabbinaat.

De rabbijnen hebben als taak o.a. het beantwoorden van vragen op Halachisch gebied, het leiden en begeleiden van begrafenissen, het geven van onderwijs aan jeugd en volwassenen, conflictbemiddeling, het verzorgen van inleidingen en/of lezingen, de geestelijke verzorging en de eventuele uit deze taken voortvloeiende correspondentie.

Met uitzondering van de Kehillot Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag en Leiden, beslaat het IPOR-gebied alle provincies van Nederland.

Niet alle IPOR-rabbijnen zijn fulltime werkzaam voor het IPOR. Zo is er een rabbijn verbonden aan het Joods Bijzonder Onderwijs, een andere rabbijn werkt voor Justitie en weer een andere rabbijn is werkzaam voor het Sinai Centrum in Amersfoort.

Het IPOR-bestuur is het aanspreekpunt voor de IPOR-kehillot. Alle zaken die verband houden met bijvoorbeeld: financiële bijstand, restauratie en/of onderhoud van gebouwen, geschillen en overleg met burgerlijke instanties en de overheid, behoren tot het werkterrein van het IPOR-bestuur. Ook belegt het IPOR-bestuur twee maal per jaar een algemene ledenvergadering waarvoor alle afgevaardigden van de IPOR-kehillot schriftelijk worden uitgenodigd.

About the IPOR

The work of the IPOR’s laymen’s board consists primary of creating a situation through which IPOR rabbis can optimally perform their work within the IPOR region.

The IPOR has five rabbis, each of which has, under the responsibility of the IPOR lay board, a specific work terrain. In addition, the IPOR has a rabbinical "team manager" the Managing Rabbi for the IPOR region. The Managing Rabbi is the first line of contact between lay board and the members of our rabbinate.

The work of the rabbis consists of dealing with questions of Jewish law, religious education of both youth and adults, giving lectures, representation at various functions, leading burial ceremonies, pastoral work and mediation in marital problems and other personal conflicts.

The IPOR region includes all the Dutch provinces, with the exception of the cities Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Leiden.

Every rabbi has a specific region for which he personally is responsible. It should be mentioned a number of our rabbi’s only have a part time function within our rabbinate. One rabbi works also part time at a Jewish school in Amsterdam, another is part time prison chaplain for the Dutch Ministry of Justice and a third is also the head chaplain of the Sinai, the European center for mental health care, in Amersfoort.

The IPOR lay board is moreover the source of information for the various Jewish communities, helping them in many areas, including finances, disputes, restorations, buildings maintenance, and contact with the civil government authorities.
